Saida. a predominatly suni muslim city in lebanon. i was there on the friday before the elections. everything closed at 12 and people went home to nail down the hatches, leaving me to wander the dusty streets. Above, the old city souqs are designed to provide amazing shade and dense multi use living. its really beautiful to walk around tight, densely populated areas in a small town. its a moment of liveliness to what would otherwise be an extremely laid back seaside town. To my relief, i hear that the elections went smoothly and everyone came away unscathed…
